We are addicted to scrapbooking

If you are as addicted to scrapbooking as we are, then you are in the right place. We thought that we aught to introduce ourselves, so you could get to know us a bit better.

There are currently three people behind this site, Carol, Jenny and Shirley. Between us we cover three generations; mother, grandmother and great grandmother!

Addicted To Scrapbooking 2

As I spend a lot of time behind a camera I guess it isn't surprising that I ended up addicted to scrapbooking. After all its not worth taking pictures if they end up out of sight on a computer hard drive is it?

All through my children's growing years I snapped away at them. Now I have my lovely grandsons, nieces and nephews to photograph so I will never run out of pages to create.

My introduction to scrapbooking came when my Mum (read more about Shirley below) asked me to help her put her book together. She had typed the text, including her own poems, and wanted it laid out nicely on the computer.

With a love of graphics of any kind this lead to the discovery of digital scrapbooking.

When my daughter announced she was getting married, I made her a wedding gift that came straight from the heart. I created digital scrapbook pages of her life up to that point, putting them all together in a binder.

Before too long I was dabbling in the world of traditional scrapbooking and building up a collection of stash. When this web site came on the market, I couldn't resist purchasing it as it allows me to share my hobby with lots of people who are, or soon will be, addicted to scrapbooking.

Scrapbook Addiction

Am I addicted to scrapbooking? Definitely!

I've collected numerous mementos and look forward to making albums of my children as they grow. I love the creative outlet that this gives me, as I am somewhat of a sentimental old fool. Putting a page together with the memorabilia I have collected allows me to walk down memory lane.

I made scrapbooks marking the arrival of my daughter and gave them as Christmas presents - the joy on the faces of those that received them was priceless.

The hardest scrapbook I have had to put together was the one that was in memory of my Mum. The tears flowed freely, reading the kind words on the flower cards, as I associated them with their 'In Sympathy' cards and photographs. However it allowed me time to grieve as there was no time limit or pressure to get this done.

I finally completed it in 2009, and gave it to its rightful owner, my dear Dad. On the front was the last thing that my Mum asked me to cross stitch, a Me To You Bear. It had pride of place on that front cover.

Addicted To Scrapbooking

I suppose it really began, when as a child, I used to keep sporadic illustrated diaries. I have always loved to write, draw and paint. Sadly the diaries disappeared during my frequent episodes of decluttering over the years, a fact that I now very much regret.

During my 60s I developed an interest in genealogy and with the help of a cousin and a cousin once removed, I was able to trace my family tree.

Around this same time, I was given a gift by my daughter, Carol, in the shape of a book by Angie Pederson called The Book of Me: A Guide to Scrapbooking About Yourself. This prompted me to write a book about my life for my children and grandchildren. The book required photographs and to make the pages even more attractive I added borders and embellishments on them.

Hence was born my love of scrap booking. My books are journals of the thoughts, feelings and faces in my life that I might otherwise forget with the passage of time.

You could certainly say that I am addicted to scrap booking.
